Under Gunned...
I spent my evening stripping the line off of my spinning reels, (12 of them), replacing it with heavier, and then tying heavier leaders on larger hooks.  It has become obvious that this will not be a normal season on the Klamath, normal being a salmon run consisting largely of  jacks and adults to 15 pounds.  This year is shaping up like the '02 year when fish over 25 pounds were quite normal.  Of course, everyone knows about the unfortunate and completely preventable demise of much of that run of huge fish.

I had been hearing of all of the large salmon coming from the mouth of the river.  Now they're up here, and they are going to be very tough on tackle!  We broke several off yesterday, and the ones we landed took fifteen minutes or more.  There are still quite a few adult steelhead around as well.  It's going to be a special season, and we're just getting started.

Right now I have two dates open in my schedule; September 18th and 20th.  Get a hold of me for details.

Good fishing,

John
